Founded by producers Bracken Burns and Harriet Luke, 39WEEKS is a full service production company formerly operating as Cutting Class Studios. The name reflects both the urgency and care required to bring creative work into the world. Built around a creator-first philosophy, the company develops bold, market-aware film and television projects across scripted, unscripted, documentary, and animation. With a focus on original IP, emerging voices, and globally resonant storytelling, 39WEEKS combines entrepreneurial agility with strong creative and financing expertise to develop projects designed to connect with audiences both in Canada and internationally.

The 39 Team

The 39WEEKS team brings together experience across scripted television, unscripted development, documentary, animation, digital media, financing, and production strategy. Co-founders Harriet Luke and Bracken Burns have worked across broadcaster development, independent production, children’s animation, and creator-led digital content, with projects ranging from the Canadian Screen Award-winning digital series peopleWatching to the award-winning feature documentary What We Carry, which received a Social Justice Award nomination at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and Rosie Award nominations. Alongside development and production expertise, the company also works with successful digital creators and YouTube channels generating ongoing audience reach and revenue, while maintaining relationships with private equity partners that allow 39WEEKS to move quickly on early-stage development and production opportunities. Together, the team combines strong creative instincts with practical experience in packaging, financing, and building projects for both Canadian and international markets.

Harriet Luke

Co President
Unscripted

Harriet Luke is a seasoned Canadian unscripted television executive and producer with over 15 years of experience developing, producing, and selling premium factual content across global markets.
She is Co-President, heading up unscripted at 39WEEKS, where she leads the creation of bold, internationally minded series for broadcasters and streamers.
Previously, Harriet held senior development roles at Blue Ant Media and Pixcom, overseeing international co-productions and a slate spanning true crime, lifestyle, science, history, and returnable formats.
Her work has been commissioned and developed for major broadcasters and platforms including CBC, Discovery, Smithsonian Channel, Investigation Discovery, and others.
Her production and development credits include Undercover Boss Canada, The People’s Couch (Gogglebox), Canada in Perspective, UFO Town, You Can’t Ask That, Hotel Paranormal with Dan Aykroyd.
Across her career, she has developed and delivered content from concept through to delivery, combining a strong creative instinct with a deep understanding of financing structures and international co-production models, bringing both creative vision and practical deal-making expertise to every project.

Bracken Burns

Co President
Scripted

Bracken Burns is a Canadian producer and Co-President of 39WEEKS, where she heads up scripted content. She focuses on developing elevated, globally minded film and television that blends strong commercial appeal with distinctive creative voices and underrepresented perspectives.
Her producing credits include peopleWatching, which won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Web Program, earned two additional CSA nominations, and received the Banff Rockie Award for Best Digital Fiction Series, and has been widely recognized for its sharp writing, distinctive music integration, and innovative digital storytelling format. She also produced the feature documentary What We Carry for CBC Documentary Channel, currently on a festival run and screening at international documentary festivals.
On the scripted side, Bracken worked closely with Viggo Mortensen on his directorial debut Falling, which premiered at Sundance 2020 and went on to screen at Cannes, the Toronto International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, and San Sebastián.
Bracken’s broader television and interactive credits include Frankie Drake Mysteries, Netflix’s I Woke Up a Vampire, and Watch Dogs: Legion for Ubisoft, reflecting a career that spans premium scripted television, feature film, documentary, and narrative-driven interactive media.
Across her work, she has developed a reputation for guiding projects from early development through financing, packaging, and production, with a strong emphasis on creator-led storytelling.

Damon McLean

Digital Media and Graphic Design

Damon McLean is an actor and digital creative whose company Tipping Hand Media has contributed to a range of acclaimed film and television projects. He has developed and written digital media components for multiple productions, including the Canadian Screen Award–winning animated series People Watching and What We Carry for CBC’s Doc Channel.

Most recently, Damon wrote ‘Continue Playing?’ a documentary currently in post-production and can also
be seen on screen as part of the cast of Memory Of A Killer currently airing on FOX and Crave.

Taeo Levine

Unscripted Development Executive

Taeo Levine is a development executive at 39WEEKS, working across the company’s unscripted slate with a focus on access-driven documentary series and premium factual storytelling.
With more than a decade of development experience, she has worked across a broad range of unscripted genres including true crime, observational documentary, and format-driven factual series, developing projects for leading broadcasters and streamers including CBC, Hulu, and Blue Ant Media channels.
Her production credits include Netflix’s Blown Away, Paramount+ Never Seen Again, and CBC’s UFO Town, reflecting a track record in shaping globally scalable, character-led unscripted programming.
At 39WEEKS, Taeo works closely with the creative team to identify new talent, refine original ideas, and guide projects from early development through to pitch readiness, with a strong emphasis on access, structure, and international market positioning.

Katrinka Scott

Finance Manager

Katrinka Scott leads accounting and financial operations at 39WEEKS. Before moving into finance, she built a successful career as a software developer, where she developed a reputation for thoughtful problem-solving and systems thinking. Today, she combines that technical expertise with a meticulous approach to financial management, helping the company stay organized, efficient, and positioned for growth. Her ability to bridge technology, operations, and business strategy makes her an invaluable part of the team.
